Linux On My Samsung

Hi, I recently installed ubuntu 12.04 on my samsung rv411 and it wouldnt connect the wi-fi, after several users said that they fixed the problem by downgrading, i installed ubuntu 10.04 instead, but i still can't connect to the internet by wireless.
i installed samsung tools (https://launchpad.net/samsung-tools) and when i check the status it says "Wireless Control is not available"
am i missing a controller?
any help is apreciated.

have you tried to use the compat-drivers? For me it worked perfectly on my WLAN problems (I had some trouble with the wireless lan of our university on my np535u4c). So maybe it will help you too.
