Control wi-fi LED manually

Hi. Is there any way to control (set on/off) wi-fi LED manually? I have Samsung N150 with ath9k driver. I want to use wi-fi LED for new messages indication. I've tried:

echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/ath9k-phy0::radio/brightness

but it stays on. However, LED goes off after Fn+F9 (toggle wi-fi). Thanks.
