Ubuntu battery life vs. WinXP

Hi Guys

First i want to say a big thanks voria for making all these scripts. Ubuntu is a LOT more user friendly now.

However i want to be pretty objective. I used to get close to 7 hrs on winXP for the NC10. I cant achieve that on ubuntu with low brightness, disable bluetooth and disable webcam (so cool to have it under keyboard shortcuts, winblows couldnt even do that ), underclock to 800mhz etc.

Any thoughts guys?

P.S is there a way to set default settings on the scripts on startup? e.g start with 800mhz, no bt, no webcam etc.

I have never really used the NC10 under winXP and cannot tell about the battery life there but under ubuntu on average i get around 5h with everthing on and brightness quite high. No serious work though just browsing, text editor, etc. no video and audio. If I switch the wifi when I don't need it and keep the brightness around 50% i get around 6h.
with video - 3-3.5h
that is my experience.

You should not underclock to 800mhz, but leave the "ondemand" cpu governor: it is better to let the cpu speed up till 1.6ghz for a second than having it working for more seconds at 800mhz. at 1.6ghz you save battery life and you have a faster experience.
