Hi ! Again, maybe I don't understand anything but despite yours patches to Gnome-power-manager, I still have a black screen which I can't "exit" when I don't use the netbook for several minutes. Is it normal?

Thank you and again, sorry if you already answer to this question.

I can't replicate your problem here... or I misunderstood you.
When my netbook is in idle for several minutes the brightness is decresed, but the screen is still visible (ie not completely black as happens to you).
Perhaps you changed default values in gconf for gpm options?

Hi !

Apparently you have perfectly understood what I mean. I haven't touch anything in Gconf. But don't worry, I think my problem solves him-self lol.

New custom package on repository, xserver-xorg-video-intel.
Here the changelog:

Code: Select all

xserver-xorg-video-intel (2:2.6.3-0ubuntu9.2~ppa1~nc10~jaunty) jaunty; urgency=low

  * Modified '121_i965_default_to_virtual_2048_2048.patch' to force the default
virtual resolution to 2048x2048 on i945GM too.

This means there is no need anymore to manually add the 'Virtual 2048 2048' option in xorg.conf in order to have support for resolutions bigger than 1024x768 on external monitors.

Hi Voria,
I updated kernel to 2.6.27-14 and then installed your package nc10-scripts. The scrips work when executed manually, but F9 has NO effect on WiFi on/off :((. What can be a problem?

Sure I did, and not once. I noticed that arandr from your ppa was not installed. Is it needed?

Check if you have a local hotkeys configuration for your user. From the main post:
'voRia' pid='147' dateline='1235932901' wrote: However, if you already have a local configuration in your user home for hotkeys, this has the precedence over the global one.
To use the global one, you need to delete the following configuration files in your home:

Code: Select all

/home/<user name>/.gconf/apps/metacity/keybinding_commands/%gconf.xml
/home/<user name>/.gconf/apps/metacity/global_keybindings/%gconf.xml
Notice that this way any other manually configured hotkey is lost too. You have to reconfigure them.
Concerning arandr, it's needed only if you want to use the FN-F4 key as described here.

maybe not authorized sudo command, a lot of reason may create this issue. When you give sudo wlonoff.sh Does sudo ask you to about password?

Right! There were the files for XBKLIGHTE to work. I completely forgot about them. Now F9 works. Many thanks!

First of all, thank you very much for your great work! I really appreciate it.
I have installed certain packages from your PPA (mainly the nc10-scripts) and now Fn+F5 works like a charm.

However, I have encountered one issue - when trying to use the Gnome Brightness Applet in the panel, the X-Server freezes. It is only after a long time (some minutes) that it becomes responsive again. The context information for this applet then tells me "Cannot get laptop panel brightness". Trying to move the slider leads to a new freeze.

I have installed these packages from your repository:
acpi-support 0.122~ppa3~nc10~jaunty
gnome-power-manager 2.24.2-2ubuntu9~ppa3~nc10~jaunty
gnome-settings-daemon 2.26.1-0ubuntu2~ppa1~nc10~jaunty
hal-info 20090407-0ubuntu2~ppa1~nc10~jaunty
libusplash0 0.5.32~ppa3~nc10~jaunty
nc10-scripts 0.3~ppa11~nc10~jaunty
usplash 0.5.32~ppa3~nc10~jaunty
usplash-theme-ubuntu 0.24~ppa4~nc10~jaunty
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 0.99.3-2ubuntu5~ppa3~nc10~jaunty
xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.6.3-0ubuntu9.3~ppa1~nc10~jaunty

The only error messages I can find at a first glance is:
[ 2611.032201] [drm:i915_getparam] *ERROR* Unknown parameter 6

Please let me know if I can provide more information.

First of all, welcome to the forum! :)

Thanks for the info. I don't use the brightness applet, I was not aware of this problem.
Installing back the official 'gnome-power-manager' from ubuntu repos fixes the problem, so there is something wrong in my package. I'll investigate it. For the moment, avoid using the applet, or retrocede the package to the official ubuntu version.

This is a problem with the current intel driver and there is not a solution for it yet.
Anyway, looking at various bug reports on launchpad, this error seems to be completely harmless.
