NB30 "Ubuntu is running in low graphics mode"

So i have a samsung NB30 running Ubuntu desktop 10.04. I have all the samsung packages loaded and everything works great, brightness, volume, fan speed, monitor switch, ect...

My only problem is that sometimes when im using my computer (there is no one thing i can do to trigger it) my desktop will crash and ubuntu brings up a box that says "Ubuntu is running in low graphics mode, you may need to configure your video settings manually" or something like that. It gives me options to configure, continue running in low graphics mode, start in safe mode, and something else. But that dosnt matter because none of them do anything. I have to shut down the machine with the power button and restart.

What the hell is going on? anyone please?
Next time it happens i will take a screen shot and post it.

I've had this random crash a few times too. Seems the graphics driver takes a hit and the only solution is to force a restart.

Are you using Ubuntu Netbook Edition instead of the standard Ubuntu?

I find the NB30 is a bit problematic with Linux at the moment e.g. boots up slowly, sometimes the samsung wireless driver doesn't load at first boot, but does again on next boot and flash player crashes a lot! >:(

Try using the Netbook Edition of Ubuntu (if you are not already) and see if that helps. ;)

I used Netbook for awhile but switched to desktop because i feel like im on a huge ipod with the netbook edition. So right now im on desktop but i can switch to netbook if i choose. Same problems on both though.
Iv herd its because of faulty Intel graphics drivers.
any thoughts?
