Maverick Meerkat - laptop-mode-tools question

Hi there,

Is it still recommended to install laptop-mode-tools in ubuntu 10.10 as it requires HAL and afaik HAL has been removed and replaced in recent ubuntu versions ? Correct me if I am wrong.

A second question would be how do I enabled the CPU undervolting in Maverick Meerkat ? I am using a Samsung N220 with an 80gb Intel X25-M G2.

laptop-mode-tools is deprecated and it should not be used anymore. It has been replaced by pm-utils (in fact in Maverick pm-utils conflicts with laptop-mode-tools and only one at the time can be installed).
I've updated Samsung Tools and now laptop-mode-tools support is gone: in its place Samsung Tools installs some pm hooks that take care of enabling usb autosuspend, sound card powersave, etc in an automatic way.

About the CPU undervolting, you need to use the modified kernel from my repository and install the package phc-intel (reboot to apply changes). Then in Samsung Tools the undervolt options will be enabled.

And what about hal and laptop-mode-tools with lucid 10.04? Would you recommend using them with the 10.04 build of samsung-tools or not?
