Realtek wireless on Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit

Have sucessfully been using Samsung-tools and samsung-wireless on my N210 with Ubuntu 10.10. Have just updated to 10.10 64 bit.

samsung-tools worked perfectly but samsung-wireless refused to work. I tried many fixes suggested here and elsewhere but no joy.

Followed the instructions here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10489952

This involves removing samsung-wireless and deleting any other kernael based r8192e drivers from /lib/modules. Then downloading the latest realtek driver and using make to add it to the kernel.

The driver is the exact same version that voRia recently added to samsung-wireless. I don't know why building it directly worked but it did for me. Using the make command for the first time was much less daunting than I thought it would be :-)

Yes, Ubuntu 10.10 64bit works perfectly on my Samsung N210.

It is very quick and stable. Any software I have wanted to use works fine. Some people suggest that 64bit is less well supported and should be avoided as it can be less stable etc. But until people start using it that situation wont change. Part of me going over to 64bit is because I want to be part of the solution not part of the problem!
