Webcam Issue

Post by Fallso »

Hi, was hoping some of the guys here could shed some light cause you all seem pretty experience with samsungs and linux..

Basically I can't get my webcam to work in instant messaging programs, I'm running the ubuntu netbook remix and cheese can pickup my camera and it displays alright, but I've tried about 4 different messaging programs and none of them seem to transmit webcam or receive it, I tried emesene and it asked me to install libmimic..so I did, and it doesn't have appeared to do much :(

Any help is appreciated

Does it work in Skype?

I only use the webcam when doing video chat in Skype. It worked OOTB, but the microphone by default is muted. I need to manually un-mute it so as to make it work.

Tried skype and it works..kind of, stays on for like 2 minutes then cuts out, same with every person I connect to. I still don't get why it won't let me do it in empathy though :S
