No, wait, you don't need the samsung-tools sources.
You have to add the repository to your system and then install packages from it.

All you have to do is to follow instructions in this thread:

The brightness is managed by 'gnome-power-manager'. It does not have a direct option for it in its preferences window, anyway you can set the brightness to use when on battery by using gconf-editor.
From a terminal, start gconf-editor:

Code: Select all

gconf-editor
then move to '/apps/gnome-power-manager/backlight' and set the new value for the 'brightness_dim_battery' option.
Keep in mind that this value represents how much you want the brightness to be dim when using battery, so if you set it to 70 the brightness will be 30%.

Hey

Could you add Swedish in the translation tool for the project? I'll help translate it.

Thank you for interest and support. :)

There is no need to manually add a new language to the project, Launchpad should take care of it automatically. All you have to do is to go on the translations page of the project and start translating! ;)

Hi,

is there any way to make the samsung tools tray icon transparent?
Unfortunately, I have a dumb frame around the icon.

This will be fixed in the next version of 'Samsung Tools'. ;)

To translators:
some sentences are changed lately, so all translations need to be updated.
Also, there are many translations started but not finished yet, it would be nice to have them completed.
Thank you! :D

Hy!
I'm pretty much a newbie on linux... I've got a Samsung N120 with lucid linx now on it. As usual most of the Fn keys don't work and so I can't regulate the brightnesss of the screen. I downloaded the "Samsung Tools" but I don't know how to install the program.
I followed the instructions of the tutorial but I couldn't download the "easy slow down" program (the Terminal said it couldn't be found and when I tried to download it manually from the internet it didn't work because "the application associated couldn't be found"....

Thanks a lot for helping!

The instructions in the main post of this thread are only for the users who want to test the version currently in development.
Instead, you should follow the instruction in this other thread to add the repository to your system and install all the needed packages.

A new official kernel has been released today, and probably you have already installed it.
To use the phc-intel functionalities you need a customized version of it, which is building right now on the repository and will be available as update in the next few hours.
You can see the current build status from this page. ;)
