N145 changes it`s brightness by itself...

Post by WhiteWind »

Hello everyone!
I have a fresh ubuntu 10.10 on my Samsung N145. It seems to work good after adding samsung-tools, samsung-backlight and changing keymap/key-release files.
But I have a weird problem with brightness: after some time it starts to switch it by itself, the message in notify area is showing the brightness that changes up and down quickly. That "blinking" effect appears every time the machine is not used. I can "change" the delay before this effect appears by turning on or off the backlight options in power applet. So it seems that my N145 tries to turn the screen off, but something starts to embarrass it at the same time )))
Nice blinking effect for a new year, but how can I fix it for the rest of the year? ))

Hi,

try this :
ignasigarcia wrote:I can confirm that if I tell Ubuntu to unload the module before suspend and reload it after restore the blinking occuring sometimes after restoring is gone.

To do so, edit (or create) a file called /etc/pm/config.d/unload_modules

that file must contain a variable declaration and a list of modules separated by empty spaces that we want to unload before suspend. In our case you need to have at least this:

SUSPEND_MODULES="samsung-backlight"

Reboot.

Ignacio

Thanks for the answer!

There is no that file, so I have created it with this line alone.
I don`t know am I need to add anything else?

And it didn`t help at all ((

Ok, so look at this thread.

It seems that Jazz solved the problem with dundee's solution.
