I don't remeber all of them, but you can use the command

Code: Select all

sudo make unload
then reload the ath5k module :)

(or restart the pc :P)
For the first time now, I am able to write this in my favorite wlan test bech = local library. I am using your:
linux-backports-modules-patched
At start the wlan speed varied 1M...24M, and transmission speed was 200...400k, but then suddenly 54M was stabilized, and now everyting worked perfectly. Now network manager again reports 1M? Still something wrong?

With home wlan everything works fine. Network manager reports 54M.

Thank you voRia,
Waiting now for your Jaunty 28.11 repository.

I'm glad to read that :)

That's the normal behaviour when the bitrate is set to 'auto'. It's adaptive.
For me, it's 1M when I'm not using the connection, and it goes up to 54M when I start to use it again. :)

My repository now contains a new 'linux-backports-modules' package for jaunty (and for intrepid too). It's based on 2009-04-01 driver snapshot, and it has the usual patches applied (rfkill), plus one to enable the AP mode.

Are you on jaunty? If so, have you installed the linux-backports-modules-jaunty package?
If you are using my repository, the above package will install a newer version of the wireless driver.

Yes it was installed and also i am using your jaunty repo. While i was using wireless at univercity i can download files at 1.4 mb sec, univercity's network doesnt use any encryption method.

Just checked, the linux-backports-modules package in jaunty is based on snapshot 2009-03-03 of ath5k module drivers.
I'm glad it works for you now :)
When you'll check the wlan in your city's library, let me know if issues are gone there too! ;)
Those good days I could play my nc10 in local library Linux-unfriendly environment.

But according to development state of ath5k things are going worse and worse: Using Jaunty and latest voria built backports-modules, a) the network manager must be commanded several times to start wlan and b) the speed is only 40k...80k. But Network Manager reports 54M for wlan. Pretty useless!
NOTE: nc10 works fine in all other wlan environments I tested, and wlan network is found immediately. But this stupid Library wlan?

Iwconfig reports in library:

lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wmaster0 no wireless extensions.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11bg ESSID:"Kirjasto"
