Ubuntu 9.04 firefox running very slow

Post by Coatezy »

Hi i'm running ubuntu 9.04 on my nc10 which has 2gb of ram.. Its a fresh install but I have noticed that firefox is running very slow. Page scrolling is very juddery. I have also noticed that the little drop down that asks if you want to save your password etc is again very juddery when dropping down. Does anyone have any idea's how I can solve this!? :shy:

Was wondering do I need to change anything in the xorg? To make the system run smoother?!

Thanks
Tom

Really?! I have never come across this problem before and I have a couple of pc's runnung 8.4 and a laptop running 8.10. This is the first time I have had this problem!? Is it possible the graphics card isn't being detected?

If I scroll up and down i there is really bad lag..

Hi !
This problem is maybe linked to websites which use flash.

Nope can happen on any websites.. Be it bbc, forums, google etc etc. I dont think it is graphic releated now.. Think firefox is unhappy about something. I have reinstalled ubuntu 3 times now and doing this on each fresh install, before and after updates..

Did you activate smooth scrolling? If so, try without :)

Also tried both settings :D... As said above its not just the scrolling.. Even the info bar that pops down is very jumpy... :s

the graphics drivers are slow... it's better to stick with 8.04 or 8.10 if you're searching speed.

I think they will not be sorted in jaunty, because the problem seems to be related to kernel too. And to get a newer kernel version we have to wait for ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala.
I hope to be wrong, anyway. :)
